Yeah, the killer app for the PSP looks good. I’ve played the demo and I’m a believer. After impressing me so massively with Daxter, Ready At Dawn studios have done it yet again!

Gameplay Screen

GoW on the PSP looks like everything you’d expect it to be! Beautiful and alive backgrounds, hordes of enemies coming at you wave after wave, the frenzied slash-and-maim action that we love so much, gruesome and bloody deaths and Kratos’ STFU-or-I’ll-shove-this-blade-down-your-throat-and-rip-out-your-intestines attitude.

Gameplay Screen

The demo lasts about 20 minutes of gameplay time and features almost everything from a wave of rushing grunts section to a mini-boss section to a puzzle(ish) section to another mini-boss fight! The graphics look amazing and RAD has done a commendable job of preserving the look and feel of the first 2 games. No easy task, if you ask me because 1 - this isn’t just a port, it’s a new story-line and 2 - the GoW games pretty much pushed the PS2 to its limits, GoW:CoO looks like it’s doing the same with the PSP - WITH NO LAG whatsoever! The standards of oomph that the first 2 games set were a tough act to match and judging from the demo, it looks like we’re all in for another great in a series of greats.

Gameplay Screen

The game plays extremely well and the controls are highly responsive. Obviously, my biggest concerns were 1 - How does RAD plan to replace the right analog stick for evasion. 2 - The absence of L2+R2 buttons and most importantly, the absence of L3+R3 - a.k.a LIFESAVER!

The evasion question was answered pretty easliy - press L+R to evade attacks. Magic attacks are performed by pressing R+the C,S,T,X buttons. So that pretty much leaves us to figure out how a Rage of the Gods/Titans mode would be possible. But it’s something I’m willing to wait for. Really.

The bosses/mini-bosses look awesome, as usual and I guarantee you, the 1st mini-boss demon will be the most fun thing you ever did on a PSP.

Overall, this is a demo made to impress and impress, it does! I can’t wait for the game to come out, and once you’ve played this demo, neither will you be able to.

Now excuse me while I go play the demo, for the 5th time today. I’m a killing machine babayy. Chaaaaah…..!!!

VERY INTERESTING IMPRESSIONS, HMMM YES. Needs more naked Greek cheeks for Parag and Roshan to enjoy. :)

BTW: By “NO LAG” you mean no frame-rate issues or lag in controls?

[...] Reggie’s already got the dirt on the dirt on the demo, and since I really can’t add much more to it without sounding like a hyperventilating, pheromone oozing teenage girl on her first date, I’ll just shut up and post screenshots we’ve managed to lift straight off the game. Feel free to kill yourself after seeing the framegrabs and wishing you hadn’t blown a staggering twenty thousand bucks on a lousy 21″ HDTV instead of spending it on a PSP. Or a DS. Or two thousand donuts. Or twenty high quality blowjobs… Hit the jump to take a look at what could very well be the killer app for Sony’s handheld platform. [...]
