I agree with the graphic problem. I think the main reason why the Forza track graphic looks so “flat” is mainly because of lack or wrong use of shadows. Shadows have to be effected by the in-games light source and should appear independent where they belong. Shadows give the picture depth, the objects form/shape and atmosphere to the game. A few days ago I watched Pro Race on youtube. There were two palm trees beside each other. They looked video-game-like flat. Then I saw why: They had no shadow on either side of the stem. That’s why they didn’t looked round. I really hope Turn 10 gives the environment “life”. Trees and bushes should be moving. Lots of gravel and dust should spray when a car drives, slides or drifts off the track. Way more smoke when the tires spin, screaming for grip.

I hope Forza 3 will not try to look like GT5. Because it doesn’t have to. Though, if “They”, (Turn 10), could get the metallic look from the cars of GRID, than they won something good. If wouldn’t make a lot of sense having the cars look 100% life like and the rest of the graphic has it’s own Forza kinda style.
I found the track and environment in Forza 2 looked pretty “flat”. Even though the graphics still look good. It kinda looks like it was painted from one and the same artist and the cars from an other. Every component has to have it’s real look, shine and behaviour.
