Looks like somebody up there (or down here) finally decided to have some pity on Indian gamers without an Internet connection, a credit card, a Play-Asia account and oh, about 3 weeks of patience. Or in some cases, way longer. After having ignored the country for a long time, except for Lost Planet: Extreme Condition on the Xbox 360, Jap videogame giant Capcom have tied up with local distribution giant Milestone Interactive to bring all their upcoming and back catalog titles to the country.
While the distribution would initially stick to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the PSP platforms, Milestone says they would also be offering PC and PlayStation 2 titles somewhere down the line. The back catalog, which currently includes hot property such as Dead Rising, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition and Devil May Cry 4 will be available starting this week at stores all over the country, with newer games such as MotoGP ‘08, Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5 being available in accordance with the international street dates for these titles.
CAPCOM RELEASE LIST FOR JULY 2008
Dead Rising (Xbox 360) – INR 1799
Lost Planet: Colonies (Xbox 360) – INR 1999
Devil May Cry 4 (Xbox 360) – INR 2499
Devil May Cry 4 (PlayStation 3) – INR 2799
Breath of Fire III (PSP) – INR 1299
Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins (PSP) – INR 1299
Capcom Classics Collection: Reloaded (PSP) – INR 1499
Capcom Classics Collection: Remixed (PSP) – INR 1499
Monster Hunter Freedom (PSP) – INR 1499
Monster Hunter Freedom 2 (PSP) – INR 1799
Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max (PSP) – INR 1499
Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble (PSP) – INR 1799
And to add to even more joy, dispelling all fears of the game not making it to India as we’d earlier reported, Microsoft India has tied up with Bethesda SoftWorks to bring out their highly anticipated RPG, Fallout 3 to India on or around the international release date. Speaking to us, Microsoft India’s Sanjoy John has said that Microsoft has signed on Bethesda as a second party publisher and Fallout 3 will be available for the Indian Xbox 360 user-base (hopefully) on Day One. (PC and PS3 owners will still be relying on e-Xpress Interactive for their imports.)
While we cannot confirm at this point whether the Collector’s Edition (the Survival Edition is at the moment, exclusive to North America through Amazon) of the game will also be available, we can trash all the hopes of BethSoft fans who couldn’t get their hands on the limited imports that happened for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Despair, for the Oblivion Game of the Year edition will not be available as part of this tie up, so you will still have to look to Play-Asia for this one.
Now if someone at Microsoft would only convince Ubisoft to play along nice…

I’ve never realized how far behind the “8 ball” so-to-speak the rest of the world is in comparison to the U.S. with technology. Why is that?? Yet why is it with Nuclear Weapons of Mass Destruction you see many countries rising to the challenge?? Why can’t technology be done across the board for the improvement of man kind?? I know for a fact that there was an IPOD put out in January that every American couldn’t wait to get their hands on and it cost something like $400 American dollars. Not all people were waiting to get their hands on it to use as one Chinese fellow couldn’t wait to tear it apart. It seems that China has now released an exact replica of the first IPOD and it’s now half the price of the original. I guess it goes back to the saying the “Dire needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few.” Just thinking out loud…
