With FarCry 2, the upcoming shooter from Ubisoft Montreal still a good one month away, you would believe that the developers will be busy ironing out all the bugs in the game play. But that does not seems to be the case, what with Ubisoft Montreal narrative designer Patrick Redding letting loose on the fact that the FarCry 3 is already in the works and has entered the “preliminary stages”. This revelation came at the LGC 2008.

According to Redding, the sequel will most probably be based in Africa as it still holds a lot more potential for them. However, don’t be surprised to see expanses of ice instead of arid desert in the final game as Redding did emphasize on the fact that a return to Africa has not been confirmed and we just might end up in Antartica, of all places! One thing that is decided though is that we won’t get to see a FarCry game based in tropical forests like the original FarCry, any time soon.

For now, mark 21st October, 2008 on your calender when the much anticipated FarCry 2 arrives on all the major platforms.
