A simple forum post is what tipped us of. Without any news about the tournament swarming around the usual virtual hangouts, we were not sure what to expect. But soon, curiosity got the better of us and we found ourselves at the Wii Virtual Tennis tournament, held at Bangalore a week and a half back.
Now we have been to gaming tournaments featuring hosts of killer rigs, PS3’s and Xbox 360’s but just like the Wii is trouncing them in sales, so seems to have been the case with the Wii tourney as well. It was easily the best and well managed gaming tournament that we have been to in a while. Pictures and more after the break.
Organized by Wii India User Group and supported by Dhruva Interactive and IndiaGames, the tournament saw a pretty good turnout with people and press swarming the place. There were only three Wii’s hooked up to LCD TV’s and a projector but the enthusiastic participants and the cheering crowd more then made up for the lack of more Wii’s.
Without saying more, we will leave you with the video and pictures from the event. We have been promised that there will be more such events in the future and we made them swear that the next time, they will not keep the announcement confined only to their Facebook group. Hope they keep their end of the bargain for we are more then willing to whack them with a virtual racquet in case they don’t.
