Although we love our sims, here at The ANGRY Pixel, once in a while, we need an escape from all the reality around us. After battling miles upon miles of crazy Bangalore rush-hour, it feels strangely soothing to jump into a game that allows you to jump over cliffs and do crazy back-flips, all at the same time. There is nothing more exhilarating then to soar over the top of the trees, let go of the handle and do something stupidly amazing. So while we can’t do any of this stuff without losing a few limbs, thank God for games like Pure that allow us to escape from the reality into the world where everything, almost everything is possible.
It seems like Microsoft had an ace up their sleeves all the time while at E3, TGS and LGC this year, but they chose to show their hand only at a Gaming Night organized in Delhi this past weekend. Two Indian gaming blogs have been reporting that Microsoft India “revealed” the rumored Xbox 360 Slim (among other things) at the above mentioned gaming night, while all E3 got was a confirmation on Final Fantasy XIII for the Xbox 360.
While we were present at the event and reported about the new bundle, we strangely never ran across any official (or unofficial) revelation of the slim avatar being in development or even a hint of hitting the shelves any time soon. We got in touch with Microsoft India, who made it clear that no such announcements were made. Below is an excerpt from the press release addressing the Xbox 360 Slim rumour:
Some good news in store for those looking forward to picking up a Xbox 360 this holiday season. Mr. Rahul Datta, Retail Services Manager, Microsoft India, confirmed to The ANGRY Pixel today that Microsoft India will be coming out with a new offer on the console soon. For INR 14,990, you will get to have the following:
The way news has been flowing in into The ANGRY Pixel and considering the staggering number of games scheduled to come up this holiday season, the trickle is threatening to become a flood any time now. News, previews, reviews and press events, you name it and we have it. Not that we are complaining! Such times are especially exciting with so much activity going around us. Quite a heady mix, we assure you. Like the Experience EA event held in Mumbai today. We had our share of quality hands-on time at Mirror’s Edge, NFS:Undercover and FIFA 2009, about which, we will be posting soon enough (the Mirror’s Edge preview is already on). Keep checking back here at The ANGRY Pixel for more hands-on previews of the games at the event as well as the upcoming The Human Weapons Gaming Nightt scheduled to be held at New Delhi tomorrow. For now, hit the jump to view the press release from the Experience EA.
Hot on the heels of the Bangalore Human Weapon Gaming Night, comes the Delhi edition of Human Weapon Gaming Nights. To be held at Cafe Morrison on 26th September, you can start trooping post 6 PM to have your shot at winning Xbox 360 and other assorted goodies. If nothing else, like us, you will at least get to down as many cans of Red Bull as you want. Strangely though, unlike the Bangalore event, there doesn’t seem to be any registration page indicating any one can drop in any time. Smart move, we would say. It always better to conserve precious bandwidth for more…*ahem*…constructive purpose. So that leaves us with only one question: What does the “206 weapons per warrior” mentioned on the invite mean?…Owww, never mind. Should have paid more attention in my Bio class.
For all those who think anything that has got the word “history” in it will be dull and boring, The History Channel seeks to change that with the recently concluded Human Weapons Gaming Nights. Held at The Living Room in Bangalore, it pitted gamers against each other in Halo 3 while others tested out their button-mashing skills in Ninja Gaiden 2. Sadly, contrary to what the press release had promised, Gears of War was missing, leaving GeOW veterans dissapointed and having to contend with getting their collectives asses handed over to them by the Halo 3 crowd. The winners walked away with Xbox 360, t-shirts and other assorted goodies. Rest of the crowd had to make do with Red Bull, the co-sponsor of the event. But hey, it was free, so we are not complaining. A certain Mr. Ramadoss would sure be proud of us. With no one from Microsoft present to answer our burning questions about Gears of War 2 and Fable II, we will have to leave you guys with some pictures from the event after the jump…
…and a friendly reminder to the parents of the kids in the picture above, to keep a watch on what the kids are playing.
Finally! After having harped about the fact that how Delhi and Mumbai have been enjoying all the Gaming Nights, Microsoft-India has decided to show some love to the gamers from namma Bengaluru!
Microsoft-India in association with The History Channel is bringing to us the “Human Weapon Gaming Nights”. To be held at The Living Room on 19th September, the event will pit gamers against each other in Halo 3, Ninja Gaiden II, Dead or Alive 4 and Gears of War. Winners will get to walk away with an Xbox 360 and other cool swag. The best thing about it is unlike other events, this is not only for the press. Gamers can register at the Human Weapons Contest site to be a part of it. With only two days to go, you better hurry!
Full press release after the jump.
