A game that could have saved the SixAxis! With a title like AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! — A Reckless Disregard for Gravity or Aaaaa! for short, you just know you want to try it. Unfortunately, the title isn’t very eloquent, but the basic premise involves BASE jumping off buildings that reach up into the stratosphere and score points by avoiding girders and performing crazy aerial stuff (one of which also involves flipping off all those adoring fans on the 132nd floor that just zipped past you at 70 mph) before “parachuting into the arms of your cheering fans”. And the welcoming arms of the cops too, I guess. Obviously, making a splotchy mess on the pavement won’t net you a decent score!
We’re not sure if Aaaaa!, made by the same guys that gave us The Wonderful End of the World is geared towards wannabe BASE jumpers suffering from a serious case of vertigo and sanity or the PAIN crowd that just wants to turn Homo Sapiens into tomato ketchup. Either which way, this is surely the cheapest way of toying with death. Maybe someone will now make a game where we can play chicken on the train tracks…
Screenshots and prototype videos after the jump.
Everyone needs a theme song. It’s like what that wacky, crazy therapist played by Tracey Ullman told Ally McBeal over and over again. Everyone needs a theme song. And for some, it’s worked wonders for them. Portal’s GLaDOS and Mirror’s Edge’s Faith both had one, and they even had the same friggin’ name attached to it. Wacky!
But now it’s Ayumi’s turn, star of Gaijin Entertainment’s X-Blades, to rock the mic. And it’s, uh, well… not that great.
‘Metaphysics’ the rapper whose performances with the “Söhne Mannheim” made him famous all over the country features on this terrific crossover track! The song combines influences from Nu Metal, Pop and Alternative Rock -- a true musical reflection of the diversified gameplay.
If you’re a fan of how Linkin Park used to sound like, this is remarkably comparable -- though that’s really not saying much. Still, measures up well with most Sonic the Hedgehog vocal theme songs. Though we also suppose that too, is also not saying much. I’m not sure where I’m going with this. Blah. Oh well, we still love you Ayumi. Even though your game won’t be getting an official release here in India (yet), what’s love-at-first-sight between a package and a FedEx delivery boy? Answer: someone’s bowl-inducing, pot-bellied uncle working at Indian customs. How we dread for our sweet precious.
(I dare someone to try and NOT to make a joke about having a name like “Metaphysics”.)
This one came straight out of the blue. The ANGRY Pixel’s community manager, Jay Patel, while trawling through his usual hangouts at nV News Forums, came upon this thread claiming that PC version of Dark Sector has been released in Russia! Frantic Google searches did not turn up anything on any of the major gaming websites. Quick scan through the thread seems to confirm the fact that the game indeed is out in Russia while rest of the world has no clue about it. Have a look at the thread for screenshots of the installation process as well as the YouTube video that shows off the PC gameplay. Major bummer though that the game chose to go with StarForce protection system.
Knock knock. Who’s there? Orange. Orange who? Orange you glad Ghajini – The Game has a trailer for you? If you’re not, we don’t blame you. FX Labs’ recent teaser to “India’s First 3D PC Game” (apparently Agni never existed, which actually makes sense if you think about it) showcases a digital Aamir Khan zip-lining from building to building, and going all Chuck Norris on some poor fools. Which is fine, if it actually looked like it was part of the game. Which it doesn’t. Right? You’ll know soon enough.
(Thanks to Snake for the find!)
Now this is something so out of the blue that we were left scratching our heads for a while. With the new Xbox Experience just around the corner, everyone is excited about checking out the new look and feel of the Xbox 360 dashboard, save for those without a HDD or a memory unit. As it turns out now, christmas seems to have come early with Microsoft playing Santa. In a surprising move, Microsoft has announced that they will be providing either a refurbished 20Gb HDD for USD 19.99 or a free a 512Mb memory card. Yup! You heard it right!! Free 512Mb memory card. What do you need to do to get one, you ask?
Last Monday, right after coming from playing Dead Space at EA India’s office, Reggie and I planned to check out the Nintendo Showroom floor at the MGF Mega City Mall here in Gurgaon – both locations are practically within walking distance. However, what started out as a curious stroll turned into a delightful display of Nintendo memorabilia, but quickly ended up becoming a vulgar awakening of awkwardness and deceit.
There are no boundaries. Everything is open to us. For that reason, nothing is truly forever sacred. The only true way to embrace evil is to become it. Are you man enough to accept the challenge?
Seriously, are you? Are you?!
Finding the diamond ring at the bottom of the champagne glass is so old school now, or atleast that’s what Bernie Peng, a computer programmer would like you to believe.
Associated Press reports that Bernie decided to pop the question to his girlfriend in a unique way by programming the popular PopCap’s game “Bejewelled” to have it pop up a wedding ring and a marriage proposal, once she reached a high score.
The marriage that took place this Saturday saw the couple’s wedding cake in form of a console and guests walked away with copies of the game as a gift.
Now who says video game nerds are not romantic enough. Now if only my girlfriend thought the same about me as well!
What’s with the recent entourage of game trailers these days? Here we are, already at the brink of having every major gaming website about to be ghastly hammered for the next few days because of You-Know-What 2008, but now it just seems companies are taunting us unfortunate no-showers with so called “new info”. Those trailers that recently popped up for Mirror’s Edge and Fallout 3? Pfft, pass. Then you got BioWare’s Dragon Age: Origins. Sure, it was great to see the first ever official footage to this highly anticipated whopper of medieval fantasia. No actual gameplay, but it’s all lovingly rendered in the new Eclipse engine. Again, it’s the first trailer ever. Slack can be cut. Then those cooky, crazy Canucks released yet another one. Dialogue is more or less the same from the first teaser; some of the actual in-game segments is new, but come on! At least put a god-damn dragon in there already! Cooky, crazy Canucks.
In other E3 related news, Dawn of War II is looking relatively scrumptious. Draco grudgingly agrees, but I bet he really wants to see more dragons.
For those not in the known: watch as I turn back the tables of time with this funky, scratchy mix (supply your own beats). About a week ago, Fragcast’s Genki Rocket posted an image of the recently released Okami box-art for the Nintendo Wii, and pointed out one particularly interesting observation: the bloody thing’s got an IGN watermark! Capcom acknowledged the mishap, and has already started offering free replacements to those folks who were perhaps emotionally scarred from this depreciable error or just couldn’t stop laughing.
But it’s not quite over yet! Split-Screen’s Gopal Sathe decided to do some box-art sleuthing of his own, “out of random curiosity” he says. What he found was a Gamespot watermark inside the instruction booklet of Capcom’s Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. Gasp! What stunning revelation, that be! So now the question begs itself to be asked: what bored internet lollygagger is gonna sift through his entire collection of Capcom games to check and see what other enlightening mysteries have been left unnoticed for all this time? Only time (and Imageshack) will tell for sure.
