Another year, another Games Convention coming up at Leipzig. For those that don’t already know, this year’s Leipzig is going to have some tasty treats for us all, including the first look, and quite possibly, a playable demo on Xbox Live and PSN for Devil May Cry 4. But that’s not all, quite a bit of big-shot titles will also have demos running at the LGC from the 22nd to the 26th of this month. A partial list of demos that you can expect to see come out of the LGC include:
Demos:
Crash of the Titans
WipeOut HD
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games
Fracture
Mercenaries 2 - World in Flames
Warhammer: Mark of Chaos - Battle March
God of War: Chains of Olympus
Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction
Syphon Filter: Logans Shadow
Time Crisis 4
Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune
Gran Turismo 5: Prologue
Devil May Cry 4
Spore
Silent Hill Origins
World in Conflict
Indiana Jones
A list of new games is also out on the Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle (USK) German game ratings website, which will see official announcements and trailers including:
Lego Indiana Jones
Fallout 3
Team Fortress 2
StarCraft II
World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King
BioShock
Devil May Cry 4
Empire Earth III
Stranglehold
Kane & Lynch: Dead Men
PES 2008
TimeShift
Unreal Tournament III
World in Conflict
Hellgate: London
Half-Life 2: The Orange Box
Metal Gear Solid 4
Crysis
and two surprising additions - Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and Silent Hill: Orphan. While the USK website claims these, and MGS4 are on the PC, its most probably going to shown on the PC via a video file, rather than actually ending up on the PC. It looks like Konami may have another Castlevania remake on their hands and we may end up seeing the first announcement and a look at the new Silent Hill V. Or, they could just be pulling our collective legs and announce a new Castlevania XBLA remake, with Silent Hill: Orphan just being the new, or localized title for the Silent Hill: Origins PSP, although I wouldn’t bet on that, considering the PSP game is supposed to be a prequel of sorts to the first game in the series. And strangely enough, even the LGC people are quite perplexed by Nintendo’s silence, who are choosing to abandon their usual press conference for a more hands-on approach, looks like, going with the “See, feel, play” logic instead of having Happy Reggie give an hour long sermon. Stay tuned, it all goes down four days from now. In the meantime, here are some official photos from the LGC blog. And yes, that IS a beach you see there, and YES, there will be hot German / European booth babes. See you on the other side…
NOTE: Just because there’s a demo on at the LGC doesn’t necessarily mean you will get it on your console/PC. Just thought you’d like to be warned against getting your hopes only to have them dashed against the cold, jagged rocks of reality.
