Review: Bionic Commando (Xbox 360)

Gamers worldwide leapt in joy at the news of Capcom decision to bring Bionic Commando to the Hi-Def era with a sequel. Not only would the game be a continuation of the original story, but would also take the game out from the limiting 2-D plane to glorious 3-D. While we wondered how the game and more importantly, the bionic arm work in the three dimensional world of the new Bionic Commando, Capcom went ahead and wowed us with videos of Nathan “Rad” Spencer, saving the world yet again with his trusty arm. But like so many other games before this, do the promises made actually make it into the game? Do you actually have as much fun as the guy in the trailers and videos seems to be having? We got to find out for ourselves as we swung our way through the ruins of Ascension City.

Review: Resident Evil 5 (Xbox 360)

1.jpg

Whenever a conversation on videogame genres veers towards survival horror, one name invariably jumps to everyone’s mind: the Resident Evil series. For more than a decade, Resident Evil has been getting us to wet our pants with embarrassing frequency. Even after taking a surprisingly action oriented approach with the fourth game in the series, Capcom still managed to get us to soil our pants again. However, is Resident Evil’s first foray into hi-definition going to make us buy a new pair of trousers again? It did not take us long to find the answer as we popped in the disc in our Xbox 360 on a chilly, rainy evening.

Sneak Peek: Street Fighter IV Press Kit

box.jpg

The Gods of Press Kits have been pretty generous lately, what with press kits raining left, right and center. Close on the heels of the Killzone 2 press kit, another surprise awaited us in form of the Street Fighter IV press kit that showed up on our doors a few days back, or rather, on our Editor-in-chief, Krishnan’s door. So while Vijay is busy wearing out his keyboard working all day long on Street Fighter IV related articles, Krishnan gets to fulfill his adolescent fantasies with a rather sweet looking Chun-Li action figure included in the press kit. Thank god for small mercies that the press kit does not contain the playable code; Vijay is this close to going postal on all of us.

Hit the jump to have a look at what all has Capcom packed in into the Street Fighter IV press kit.

Street Fighter IV: Interview with Yoshinori Ono

sfiv_yoshinorionoYoshinori Ono has certainly come a long way. From working as a sound director on various Capcom franchises to playing first-time producer for a hack and slash action game called Chaos Legion, Ono has been fortunate enough to be in a league of respected game designers for both his company and for the entire world. And now that he’s been busy getting a new numerical Street Fighter out for a new generation of home consoles, TAP takes a moment to Hadouken some questions regarding the prospect of downloadable content, thoughts on custom character creation, in-game recording and more. Ono was just too down-right fierce not to answer!

While it’s great to see a huge character line-up from the SFII and Alpha games, why no love for Street Fighter III’s fans? Can we expect to see some further additions in the upcoming months (maybe in the form DLC)?
We had a particular aim in SFIV to achieve and that was a total return to the basics. The intention was to align the starting point for everyone, so those who had played II on SNES and such could just start playing, without having to refer to the manual. Because we thought familiar characters that are well remembered would do the job better we chose not to include characters from SFIII.

DLC wise, there will be no additional characters. This is again to help everyone to be in the same boat and we wanted to avoid just some people who have paid extra to have a wider range of arsenal. However I am not denying the possibility of DLC delivering some fun stuff and I do have some interesting things coming up so keep your wits about you!

Review: Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix

Review: Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix

Before the screen-filling Supers, before the dozen-hit air combos, before the EX Specials and parry system – Street Fighter II, the successful and iconic fighting game franchise that practically kick started the genre of the very same, was all about just that: fighting. With a few Hadoukens and Spinning Bird kicks thrown in for good measure, of course. Which is why it comes as no surprise that series pioneer Capcom decided to pluck their latest revision of said franchise and give it a much-loved paint job for both old and new fans to digitally download to their new-fangled video game consoles. Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix is certainly that, but so much more than a simple “paint job”.
