Milestone Offers PSP Slim/Chains of Olympus Bundle

How Kratos does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie-Pop?

Whatever Latino Kratos says, Latino Kratos means well. Milestone Interactive just so happens to be offering a kinky pre-order deal for those who have been looking for an excuse to pick up a PSP Slim & Lite (or two, if your name is Scrooge McDuck). Not only will you be cashing on what’s already the best playing PSP action game to come out in like forever, but in addition to that - you’ll also be chain-combo-ing yourself a Kratos action figure as well. Just what the mad doctor prescribed!

Thanks to Sameer for the enlightening news.

Video Games Portrayed As Fine Art: Part 2

Video Games Portrayed As Fine Art

In the last part of this article, games that featured mostly a strong visual style were on the tops, and receiving most of the credit. This time around the list is more varied to include not only music, but story and narrative concepts as well. A few obvious favorites show up, along with some that the general public ignored, but which the history of gaming has yet to forget. So, without further ado, let’s continue analyzing those games that are seen as not only great fun, but fine art, achieving a distinct pinnacle that genteelly meanders in to the industry every now and then.

Crazy Cosplay: (Oh my) God of War!

Oh no! Gouge my eyes out!

Hasn’t poor Kratos suffered enough? Got himself manipulated by Ares, lost his wife and daughter, not to mention his mighty God status in Olympus and all his powers!? And now he has to put up with people like this guy, who we’re sure will get ripped limb from limb in the goriest fashion possible if Kratos were around.

And poor Avinash Bali of Tech2 Gaming now has to add another horrible entry in his ever-growing list of nightmares. Attending the PlayStation Experience in Mumbai, he had to witness what could very well be the worst possible Kratos cosplay gone horribly wrong. I’m not going to rant on about how this is wrong on so many levels, but instead, I’m planning to sue Avinash for all the years of therapy I’m gonna have to undergo because of his picture. And Sony India, for ruining every bit of appeal God of War held for me by hiring this guy! Honestly, I can’t play another God of War game anymore! I tried looking away from the picture, but it’s got the same effect on me as roadkill and it is only sheer cowardice that prevents me from gouging my own eyes out right now.

God of War PSP Screenshot Frenzy

God of War: Chains of Olympus

With more and more confusion reigning supreme on the home console front, I still think the PSP is one of the best purchasing decisions I’ve ever made in my life. A face that got reinforced ten times over, thanks to Ready At Dawn’s spellbinding God of War: Chains of Olympus demo.

Reggie’s already got the dirt on the dirt on the demo, and since I really can’t add much more to it without sounding like a hyperventilating, pheromone oozing teenage girl on her first date, I’ll just shut up and post screenshots we’ve managed to lift straight off the game. Feel free to kill yourself after seeing the framegrabs and wishing you hadn’t blown a staggering twenty thousand bucks on a lousy 21″ HDTV instead of spending it on a PSP. Or a DS. Or two thousand donuts. Or twenty high quality blowjobs… Hit the jump to take a look at what could very well be the killer app for Sony’s handheld platform, especially if this too happens to have a mini sex game.

God of War : Chains of Olympus demo out!

Yeah, the killer app for the PSP looks good. I’ve played the demo and I’m a believer. After impressing me so massively with Daxter, Ready At Dawn studios have done it yet again!

Gameplay Screen

GoW on the PSP looks like everything you’d expect it to be! Beautiful and alive backgrounds, hordes of enemies coming at you wave after wave, the frenzied slash-and-maim action that we love so much, gruesome and bloody deaths and Kratos’ STFU-or-I’ll-shove-this-blade-down-your-throat-and-rip-out-your-intestines attitude.

SCEA’s Deal with the Best

Godding our Wars and Cars

Now if this isn’t news, what is? David Jaffe of God of War for the PS2 and Calling All Cars (one of the more popular titles available on the Playstation network for download) and Scott Campbell, former chief director at Incognito Entertainment (who also collaborated with the former on Calling All Cars, along with co-developing the Twisted Metal Games and being involved with the tactical air and land warfare PS3 game, Warhawk) have formed the new Eat, Sleep, Play Studios and signed a multi-year deal with Sony Computer Entertainment of America’s (SCEA) Santa Monica branch to develop games under their banner.

Yesterday’s announcement, which was officially confirmed as of today, has given insight in to the first big project which is confirmed for a 2008 release. In the meantime, Eat, Sleep and Play will release Twisted Metal: Head On for the Playstation 2 in winter of this year. The release will contain brand-spanking new levels from the never before released Twisted Metal: Black Part II. The best part though, is that the core members of Incognito will still remain with their original branch to continue development on Warhawk, so that leaves two massive titles for Sony to look forward to for its platform in the future. With the support of two of the most iconic developers in the gaming industry today, Sony appears to be on the up side. Stay tuned for details on Eat, Sleep, Play’s first PS3 title.
