For all those who think anything that has got the word “history” in it will be dull and boring, The History Channel seeks to change that with the recently concluded Human Weapons Gaming Nights. Held at The Living Room in Bangalore, it pitted gamers against each other in Halo 3 while others tested out their button-mashing skills in Ninja Gaiden 2. Sadly, contrary to what the press release had promised, Gears of War was missing, leaving GeOW veterans dissapointed and having to contend with getting their collectives asses handed over to them by the Halo 3 crowd. The winners walked away with Xbox 360, t-shirts and other assorted goodies. Rest of the crowd had to make do with Red Bull, the co-sponsor of the event. But hey, it was free, so we are not complaining. A certain Mr. Ramadoss would sure be proud of us. With no one from Microsoft present to answer our burning questions about Gears of War 2 and Fable II, we will have to leave you guys with some pictures from the event after the jump…
…and a friendly reminder to the parents of the kids in the picture above, to keep a watch on what the kids are playing.
Finally! After having harped about the fact that how Delhi and Mumbai have been enjoying all the Gaming Nights, Microsoft-India has decided to show some love to the gamers from namma Bengaluru!
Microsoft-India in association with The History Channel is bringing to us the “Human Weapon Gaming Nights”. To be held at The Living Room on 19th September, the event will pit gamers against each other in Halo 3, Ninja Gaiden II, Dead or Alive 4 and Gears of War. Winners will get to walk away with an Xbox 360 and other cool swag. The best thing about it is unlike other events, this is not only for the press. Gamers can register at the Human Weapons Contest site to be a part of it. With only two days to go, you better hurry!
Full press release after the jump.

Looks like Bungie and the rest of the Halo gang were just kidding when they asked us all to finish the fight last September. Apart from the “Oh my God you DIDN’T!” cutscene post-credits and the newer rumors floating around the Interwebs about the Halo 4 announcement, it looks like Bungie’s (who’s probably upset at CoD4 and BFBC stealing a little bit of their thunder) dragging players back to Halo 3 with the upcoming Bungie day on 7/7.
With Bungie Day being a big thing every year, with the developers offering something for free, it looks like this time around, Halo 3 players will be getting a new map, Cold Storage, along with 7 exclusive new gamer pics and a Bungie Day dashboard theme. And to top off the cake with some delicious frosting, the Legendary map pack will also drop in price to 600 Microsoft Points to mark the occassion.
According to the official press release which details the new map:
This year marks the best “Bungie Day” yet, as eight million plus “Halo 3” players can now download Cold Storage, a free new multiplayer map inspired by the original map Chill Out found in “Halo: Combat Evolved.” The Cold Storage facility was once a vibrant, active research center on Installation 05. An accidental contamination resulted in an unforeseen outbreak, which compromised the Forerunner center. Now, emptied and silent, watched only by a local caretaker, the abandoned structure serves as a reminder of how something as powerful as science is ultimately beholden to nature.
We’ll leave you with these two new screenshots of Cold Storage from Bungie, so be sure to mark your calendars for 7/7 and get these goodies as soon as they go up, for they won’t be around the next day if you forget. In the meantime, head on over to the Bungie website and check out the new ViDoc showing off the map here.

Warning! The following review holds heavy spoilers for Halo 3 and the series’ storyline in general. If you haven’t played the game yet and care a bit about its narrative, I highly recommend you NOT read the below text. Otherwise, you are most welcome to click the link below and crawl into my parlor.

Looks like no retailer can actually keep his ugly lil’ paws from tearing open those precious Halo 3 boxes and shower copies down from the rooftops. So what if the game is only supposed to be sold a week later, right? Images are coming in of a lot of Halo 3 copies in the wild, and considering how some retards have been stupid (or sadistic) enough to post the endings on YouTube, one wonders why even bother sticking to a release date instead of slapping on a sticker that reads “Go nuts! Sell as you please” instead of the one that pleads “Do not sell before 9/25/07″.
We’re not sure what’s going to happen in India, considering the games have to be sent to retailers before the 25th, but we’re waiting for some form of communication from Microsoft India on how they’re actually planning to prevent retailers here from going the same way of their crazed US and UK counterparts.

For those that were scared that Microsoft would ban your Xbox LIVE account if you took your purchase online before the 25th, rest easy, MS has got your back, even as they probably fleece the skin off the retailers’ for selling them in the first place.
“We can confirm that Microsoft is not taking any action (such as banning Xbox Live accounts) against gamers who are playing Halo 3 before the official street date. Any rumours or speculation to the contrary are false.”
said Microsoft, in an official press release issued to Pro-G, which had initially warned that anyone taking their copy of the game online before the 25th will have their accounts banned. I wouldn’t mind getting my copy before the 25th, considering I can’t really spoil it for anyone, what with me sitting on a broken Xbox 360 for the last 22 days now.
UPDATE: The official word from Mohit Anand, Country Manager for Microsoft India’s Entertainment and Devices Division is that they are taking enough precautions to make sure the street date is not broken here as well.
We are doing what we need to, and that is all I am willing to say :), but rest assured the game will be on shelves on [the] 25th.
We’re sure it will be, Mohit, but you’ve really got our eyebrows raised as far as they’ll go with that cryptic smiley emoticon there. Oh well, let the inexorably painful one-week wait begin! We waited years for the game, I’m sure we could wait another couple of days… I think. At least until I start crying on the doorsteps of the retailer to let me have my copy before then.

Ahoy thar me harties!
Aye, before you start readin’ this post, I’d recommend headin’ o’er t’ har and read up a bit on the most important day (okay, it isn’t but my mind likes t’ imagine it is) o’ the entire year: International ‘Speak like a pirate’ day, shiver me timbers! (not t’ be confused with the International ‘Speak Like the Goddamn Batman’ day or the far more local ‘Walk like I’’e been kicked in the balls by M$’ day which Enoon has been celebratin’ for the past few weeks). Due t’ the utter awesomeness o’ Pirates, I was goin’ t’ ask for a guest speaker t’ come in today, but it seems the Pirate-ninja feud sort o’ intensifies at this time o’ the year meanin’ their all out busy kickin’ ninja ass. So fer now its all me! YARRR!
*coughs as he’s kicked in the nads by several TAP members*
Okay, okay, fine! Onto more serious matters then. I’ve been rather quiet recently for several reasons. I finally got an Xbox 360 and my recent time has been divided between working, studying, writing and playing GoW, WiC, SoTS, PGR3 and a few other games.

Time and again we have heard the same old excuse that we would start buying original games if only the game prices dropped. Well, then it’s time to follow up on your word.
GamingIndians, a site devoted to Indian console gamers have come up with a double whammy that will leave both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 owners with a wide grin on their face. Let’s start with the first one.
Halo 3: The good guys at GamingIndians have managed to con some game distributors into offering the game at a discounted price.
As per the offer, you can buy a Halo 3 Collectors Edition (with FREE Halo 3 faceplate) for Rs 2,135 (MRP Rs 2,510, you save Rs 375) and Halo 3 Standard Edition for Rs 1,610 (MRP 1,895, you save Rs 285).
The only catch is that there has to be a minimum order of 10 games at least which was achieved long ago. If you like the offer, then it’s time you head over to the forums and put your money down for some Halo 3 goodness.
Heavenly Sword: If the Halo 3 offer had the PS3 guys seeing red, it’s time for the Xbox 360 guys to go green because GamingIndians have followed up the superb Halo 3 offer with a tempting discount on Heavenly Sword.
We’ve got word from Milestone that Heavenly Sword should be on shelves on 21st September, and we’ll have it for our members on day one. GamingIndians members get a special discount - Heavenly Sword for Rs 2,380 - that’s Rs 420 less than the MRP of Rs 2,800.
Time is fast running out, so if you are lucky enough to have a PS3 sitting pretty on your shelf, then maybe it’s time you get something good to play on it as well. Catch the thread here!
Here is a BIG thumbs up for GamingIndians from TAP. Keep up the good work and continue to get us more offers like these.
