The GamingIndians Halo 3 & Heavenly Sword Offer

An Offer You Can't Refuse

Time and again we have heard the same old excuse that we would start buying original games if only the game prices dropped. Well, then it’s time to follow up on your word.

GamingIndians, a site devoted to Indian console gamers have come up with a double whammy that will leave both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 owners with a wide grin on their face. Let’s start with the first one.

Halo 3: The good guys at GamingIndians have managed to con some game distributors into offering the game at a discounted price.

As per the offer, you can buy a Halo 3 Collectors Edition (with FREE Halo 3 faceplate) for Rs 2,135 (MRP Rs 2,510, you save Rs 375) and Halo 3 Standard Edition for Rs 1,610 (MRP 1,895, you save Rs 285).

The only catch is that there has to be a minimum order of 10 games at least which was achieved long ago. If you like the offer, then it’s time you head over to the forums and put your money down for some Halo 3 goodness.

Heavenly Sword: If the Halo 3 offer had the PS3 guys seeing red, it’s time for the Xbox 360 guys to go green because GamingIndians have followed up the superb Halo 3 offer with a tempting discount on Heavenly Sword.

We’ve got word from Milestone that Heavenly Sword should be on shelves on 21st September, and we’ll have it for our members on day one. GamingIndians members get a special discount - Heavenly Sword for Rs 2,380 - that’s Rs 420 less than the MRP of Rs 2,800.

Time is fast running out, so if you are lucky enough to have a PS3 sitting pretty on your shelf, then maybe it’s time you get something good to play on it as well. Catch the thread here!

Here is a BIG thumbs up for GamingIndians from TAP. Keep up the good work and continue to get us more offers like these.

Heavenly Sword Animated Series

Heavenly Sword - Nariko

Lady Croft hasn’t been the only one graciously dangling her nanos in cartoon celluloid, and that’s never a bad thing! Now its Ninja Theory’s turn with their very blade-wielding redhead honeycomb, Nariko from Heavenly Sword. Being done to promote the upcoming Playstation 3 exclusive launch (September 15th!), expect more of these cool animated shorts detailing about the game’s history to come in the next few days. All guaranteed to be more entertaining than the Devil May Cry anime, ho! That was Krishnan’s gag, by the way, thought it was particularly coy. Debonair, even.

Hit the jump for the first three episodes - only two more to go!

Heavenly Sword 101

1. Nariko is dying.

The Heavenly Sword is a godly weapon that recently fell into the mortal realm. Because only gods can wield the Heavenly Sword without ill effects, Nariko is succumbing to its poisonous effects and has only hours to live when the game opens. In gameplay, your life meter is constantly depleting and can only be sustained through constant combat. This helps keep the focus on swordplay and not frustrating puzzles or platform-jumping exercises.

2. The head baddy is named King Botham.

Unfortunately, we don’t know much about him aside from the fact that Lord of the Rings actor Andy Serkis (Gollum) is supplying motion-captured acting and facial expressions. His character is described as an invading, genocidal tyrant, but little else is known about his role or personality.

3. Nariko has three fighting stances.

With a press of a button, Nariko can swap between three core fighting styles. Ranged style allows Nariko to assault foes from a distance, though it lacks stopping power; Speed gives Nariko two short-swords for close-quarters combat but won’t defeat the toughest enemies; and Power style creates one massive sword than inflicts monumental damage, though it suffers from a slow swing time. Knowing when to swap between Nariko’s styles will be a key element in the final game.

4. The Cell processor pulls off some fancy tricks.

Heavenly Sword may just be the game to show what Sony’s high-end Cell CPU is made of. According to our talks with the developers at Ninja Theory, the Cell’s supposedly prodigious processing power enables some high-end effects, such as swirling cloth and hair, dazzling particle effects, and gorgeous waterfalls.

Filling mouths with hot and spicy muck

Sometimes I just wonder how Andy Serkis gets on with his career? This is probably the only guy who is one of the most popular actors that’s rarely seen on screen in his real form. From Gollum to King Kong, Serkis has motion captured his way right into our hearts and into the annals of moviemaking history. And if mo-capping for movies wasn’t enough, he’s now doing it for what probably could become one of the best games ever made - Heavenly Sword.

I’m just gonna shut up and let his persona say it all. This is one of the best mo-capping shoots I’ve ever seen, even though it’s more rant than action. All hail the coming of the new age thespian. <Gollum!> (sigh) As if Heroes didn’t piss me off by showing Micah and Niki/Jessica playing the game, now this has to come along. Damn, Heavenly Sword is fast becoming the reason I’ll run out and buy a PS3 the day the game hits the shelves.
