Milestone First Brick-and-Mortar Venture: Game4U

game4u056

Mumbai seems to be getting dedicated game shops left, right and center. Just a few days back we had carried the story about E-Xpress Interactive stepping into retail marketing with their flag-ship store in Mumbai. Now Milestone too has joined the fray in all earnest with a slick-looking retail outlet, Game4u.

Situated at Mega Mall, Oshiwara, Mumbai, the store was formally inaugurated by Vijender Singh, bronze-medalist from the last Olympics and Suraj Gaggan who’s “Give Me Some Sunshine” from the movie “3 Idiots” are on everyone’s lips. Mr. Jayant R. Sharma, CEO/Chairman of Milestone Interactive was on hand to elaborate on his plan to expand the stores presence to multiple cities with a minimum of fifty stores.

Visitors on the store can expect to find demo-kiosks, a pretty neat looking Rock Band setup to have an impromptu jam session and even section just for the girls, called Game4Girls! Besides stocking up on the games, Game4U will also be offering Blu-Ray movies to add to your fledgling collection of hi-def movie library. Hit the jump to see some of the pictures from the event and the shop floor. Better still, visit Game4U and tell us what you think about it.

Review: King of Fighters XII (PS3/Xbox 360)

kofxii01

There is always something nice about having your favorite game from childhood arrive on your next-gen consoles in an all new avatar, complete with a shiny new paint job, updated graphics and new features. The year of 2009 has been especially good in that regard when it comes to the fighting genre. First it was Street Fighter 4 wowing long time fans with its jump to the HD age. Now was the turn of King of Fighters XII (KOF XII) to appear on our PS3s and Xbox 360s. After having successfully maintained a huge fan following on multitude of consoles and arcade machines over a period of fifteen years, all eyes were on KOF XII to see if it could recreate the same magic that has sustained it over so many years.

Review: Resident Evil 5 (Xbox 360)

1.jpg

Whenever a conversation on videogame genres veers towards survival horror, one name invariably jumps to everyone’s mind: the Resident Evil series. For more than a decade, Resident Evil has been getting us to wet our pants with embarrassing frequency. Even after taking a surprisingly action oriented approach with the fourth game in the series, Capcom still managed to get us to soil our pants again. However, is Resident Evil’s first foray into hi-definition going to make us buy a new pair of trousers again? It did not take us long to find the answer as we popped in the disc in our Xbox 360 on a chilly, rainy evening.

ISA Recruiting In Bangalore This Weekend

kz2event

OK, so, not a lot of people made it to the Street Fighter IV launch party at The Living Room last week. Probably because they were busy spending quality time with their friends and loved ones, telling them how important they are when you’re living life at 120 mph. Or they were probably in bed, sipping on a cup of hot coffee, or pounding on a controller, or maybe both. (Ahem!) Oh, I remember now! It was because it was on a freaking Friday evening where the Satanic bosses at our workplace were going, “Just a couple of more hours before these in-bred SOBs go home for two days to nurse their bruises and their egos, so let’s push them harder. And yeah, send that database warehousing tub-o’-lard into my room. I’ve got a couple of fluggaenkdechioebolsen reports that I wanna go over with him!” (WARNING: That linky’s totally NSFW, so beware. And kids, stay away for your own good, at least until you’re older!)

But anyway, that was Street Fighter IV, so let’s talk about Killzone 2. You’ve read about it. You’ve seen all the videos. Maybe even participated in a few forum wars about how it’s the next best thing to hot garlic bread and cheese dip. Well, now is the time to check it out for yourselves. If you were one of the unlucky few who still hasn’t got the game or the fence-sitter minority, The Living Room is the place to be this weekend. Starting tomorrow, gaming folks who manage to wander over to The Living Room in Bangalore after 1 PM will get to spend three days in the company of the numero uno shooter for the PS3, Killzone 2. Like Niko Bellic hoped, maybe this time, things will be different. Or whatever, I don’t know, click on the ad for more details. Me, I have just one question – “Will there be Red Bull?”

Street Fighter IV Launch Center is a Go-Go!

All this, plus our in-depth review on Street Fighter IV for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 platforms.

So head over to the Launch Center and start smothering yourselves in anticipation. It’s a long wait, but we’ll be there to keep you company.

The ANGRY Pixel Alone in the Dark Contest Winners

aitd_winners

It’s past midnight and as promised, it’s the time when we announce the winners of our Alone in the Dark Contest. The easiest one till date, this contest also happens to be the one that got us the most number of participants. While most loved it, some would rather have the tougher ones back but in the end, all agreed that it was fun.

Before we announce the three lucky winners, we would like to thank our prize sponsors, Milestone Interactive once again for making this contest possible. A big thanks also goes out to our Chief Designer, Bobby Sandhu for taking out time from his busy schedule and work on the flash applet. And oh, thank you to all of you guys who made this contest such a big success!!

And now for the lucky three!

The ANGRY Pixel Alone In The Dark Contest

It’s here!

After having talked about it countless times in the past few months, the Alone In The Dark Contest has finally shown up. Blame the delay on our lazy admins for not having it up and running much earlier. Guess we will have to go with the age-old saying that it is never too late for anything.

Participants of our Game of the Year 2007 contests would immediately feel at ease with this one. This time around, to get more and more people to jump on-board, the contest has been made much more accessible. Mind you, it is just a teaser for the things to come in the following months, so you better stay sharp.

Indian News Roundup: What We Didn’t Tell You

The Last Guy, TAP-style~

This week saw a lot of interesting announcements, and we’re not just talking about the newly-appointed Microsoft India E&D Country Manager (but I’ll point it out anyway). Nope, Sony’s also been making the rounds this week. Aside from some game development and industry chatter, we got PS3 titles going for cheap and silly viral marketing videos to gloat about. Read on, scallywags!

India Gets Love From Capcom, Bethesda

BethSoft, India and Capcom Threesome

Looks like somebody up there (or down here) finally decided to have some pity on Indian gamers without an Internet connection, a credit card, a Play-Asia account and oh, about 3 weeks of patience. Or in some cases, way longer. After having ignored the country for a long time, except for Lost Planet: Extreme Condition on the Xbox 360, Jap videogame giant Capcom have tied up with local distribution giant Milestone Interactive to bring all their upcoming and back catalog titles to the country.

While the distribution would initially stick to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the PSP platforms, Milestone says they would also be offering PC and PlayStation 2 titles somewhere down the line. The back catalog, which currently includes hot property such as Dead Rising, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition and Devil May Cry 4 will be available starting this week at stores all over the country, with newer games such as MotoGP ‘08, Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5 being available in accordance with the international street dates for these titles.
