It’s that time of the year again when Sony Computer Entertainment India pulls out all stops in its bid to woo in as many as possible to its ever increasing tribe of PS3 owners. Last year event proved that if marketed properly, a gaming event such as this one can draw in gamers and non-gaming crowd alike. No wonder this time around, they have upped the bar again by making the Playstation Experience 2008 a multi-city affair.
Mumbai will be seeing the event held at In-Orbit mall on 8th and 9th of November. Bangalore will be there to experience it first-hand at Kormangala Indoor Stadium on the 15th and 16th of November. The city-hopping show will wrap at New Delhi where gamers and non-gamers alike can flock in to Ansal Plaza on 22nd and 23d November. In addition to this, the Mumbai event will be seeing a press-conference as well on the first day of the event. Here is hoping some good news comes our way from that.
SCE India has wisely kept it a weekend affair which would ensure families can flock in by the droves. Throw in the ad campaign and you will be looking at a record turn-out. It’s also heartening to see that the Delhi and Bangalore crowd are also finally getting some attention, especially Bangalore which has long been passed over for such events. Our kudos goes out to the SCE India team for making this possible. TAP most definitely approves!

In other news, a similar event was scheduled for Bangalore as well with Consoul playing host to Microsoft. Gamers from the city would have been invited over to Consoul, Bangalore’s premiere console-only gaming parlor, to try out the game all by themselves. However, it seems like as of now, the event has been put on the backburner. We will update you as soon as we have some news regarding this.
Edit: More news on the Bangalore event after the jump.
Remember how we always keep on bitching about gamers up north in Delhi keep getting lucky with game events being held on a regular basis? Seems like our Mumbai brethren are soon going to join the must-envy list for us poor souls down here at Bangalore.
Quick on the heels of the Xbox India’s “Biggest Gamers’ Night Ever!” and Sony’s Playstation Experience, Mumbai is going to host yet another party in form of the launch of a brand new Xbox Lounge! The official invitation in our hands tells us that on 7th December 2007, the Xbox Lounge is being launched by Microsoft Entertainment and Devices Division in collaboration with MobileStore, India’s largest chain of mobile phone retailers. Mr. Rajiv Agarwal, CEO and Director, ‘The MobileStore Ltd’ and Mr. Mohit Anand, Country Manager, Microsoft E&D India will be there to do the honors and address the media.
We also have news that the launch will not be limited to a Mumbai launch but will be rolled out across India. We are pretty sure that the Xbox Lounge will meet with great success over in Mumbai and it is only a matter of time before we get to see such lounges all across India. So while you lucky guys attend the event, I will have to be content with keeping an eye on the MobileStore across the road.
Authors Note: Apparently, Mumbai has been host to an Xbox 360 Lounge since May 25th, 2006. More details can be found at Animationexpress.

Whoever said Microsoft was the only one serious about hosting game events to promote their flagship console baby, should check out Sameer’s excellent hand-on report on Sony’s Playstation Experience in Mumbai - which include dozens of pictures and even some shaky-cam style video clips. My one and only favorite! Man, now I wanna see one of these in Delhi too. But they better not make me have to sit in those retardedly small go-karts, or have me sit on the floor to play a bunch of friggin’ shooters. And would’ve it killed the event organizers to throw in extra controller for the games that had support for it? Make it so, Sony, make it so!
Update: Wow, it looks like one of our own attended the event as well! Even though Roshan couldn’t make it because of a bad mushroom-induced fever, his sister Mary D’Silva was nice enough to do his job and enjoy herself at the event with Need For Speed: ProStreet, MotorStorm, Ratchet & Clank: Deadlocked and good ol’ Resistance. Pity she couldn’t get her hands on Uncharted or R&C Future: Tools of Destruction, thanks to some spoilsports that stuck to the gaming stations like leeches. And no, before you ask, she didn’t embarrass herself by playing SingStar! And she took PICS, YAY! Thanks, Mary!
