Ah, the life of a medical student. Nothing beats spending ten years of your life doing nothing but studying and cramming, performing dissections on human cadavers, being berated and put down by your instructors/colleagues/nurses/patients and having no time in your life for yourself. Trauma Center: Under the Knife is an experiment by Nintendo and famed RPG maker Atlus to simulate the emotional drama and tribulations a doctor goes through, without the potentially life marring character changes accompanying the profession in real life. The result is a slickly produced, innovative piece of entertainment that takes full advantage of the DS’s touch-screen abilities while providing enough challenge, story and enjoyment without the real fear of killing your patient or inhaling too many inebriating disinfectants.
Sonic the Hedgehog! Super Smash Bros. Brawl! Sonic the Hedgehog in Super Smash Bros. Brawl!
Really, that’s all there is to say. Watch the trailer over and over until your eyes want to leave your sockets. Man, if this doesn’t make me want a Wii even more now…

Remember Homer Simpson looking at a globe and going, “Heh, heh, look at this country - U R Gay!”? Well, it looks like Nintendo thinks the same of everyone’s who’s looking forward to the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy. But yeah, they’re a little bit more polite than the iconic yellow cartoon character, at least. We think. Anywho, a lot of people have been pointing out that the logo for the game features a number of little stars below the letters that spell out “U R MR GAY”. A boneheaded move by a designer who we can expect to be fired soon, or a cosmic impossible coincidence? You decide. In the meantime, it’s official. Nintendo says we’re Mr. Gay, and if they say it, well, it must be true. Now, who’s man enough to sit with me and watch Brokeback Mountain and play with my Wii?

With demos for both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 comin’ out the wazoo, Wii owners were the only ones that were left out of the loop. But it looks like all that may change pretty soon. Well, at least for subscribers to Nintendo Power. In their latest sweepstakes, a questionnaire asked readers how interested they were in demos for the Wii, their preferred method of getting the demos and how much more moolah would they be willing to part with for said demos.
Now it’s most probable that only subscribers to Nintendo Power will receive the demos, a la OXM on Xbox LIVE, but still, we’re sure this would be a great way to enhance WiiConnect24! And, it looks like a lot of people are even willing to shell out $40 bucks for a special SD card loaded with demos. Now it’s anyone’s guess as to whether a demo download service will even see the light of day on WiiConnect24 and if, or when, said Nintendo Power demos would be available on it, but hey, who wouldn’t sell their families into slavery for demos of Mario Galaxy now, right?

Forget chopping veggies in Cooking Mama, how about actually learning to make yourself a Manhattan drink? Maybe a Daiquiri or a Jack Rose? Bartender DS will teach you all the proper mannerisms of mixing roughly 850 high-quality liquored recipes to even the types of glasses you’ll want to pour them in. Anything to get your cocktail on after a long day’s work of checking out customers at the Reliance Fresh cashier. Not that I’m trying to single anyone out here in particular.
Currently only seeing a release in Japan, you’ll have some nagging to do before EA decides to localize this anytime soon.

Another year, another Comic-Con I get to miss. Pleasant things we still get, like some out-of-nowhere announcements related to video-gaming. I raised not one, but two eyebrows at the announcement of Viva Piñata for the Nintendo DS. Of course, Shane Kim from Microsoft did hint a few months prior that having games based on not just Viva Piñata, but also Kameo appearing on the portable system wouldn’t sound entirely rubbish. Well, now we know! And knowing is half the battle.
Why get excited? Considering the overall reception the original game received from critics but also the lack of any real sales impact because of the “childish”-perceived subject matter, Viva Piñata more than ever deserves a second shot. And I can’t think of any better widely-owned platform for Rare to put it on.
Cheers to Nintendic for the news and Kotaku for the accompanying image. Should be seeing proper screens momentarily, so check back here later.

You know how when you sit and play games and your family tells you to get off your fat butt and get some exercise instead of wasting away in front of the console? Well, if Nintendo has anything to say about that, you can just yell back “I AM exercising!” That’s the premise of the new game, Wii Fit and the new Wii Balance Board.

The new wireless Balance Board can automatically measure your weight as well as track your balance across the board, lending itself to an awesome control scheme where your full body movement is used as a gameplay control element. The new aerobics exercise game allows you to lose weight, build muscles and basically make a complete ass out of myself in front of my television and have tons of fun doing it. Finally, a way to exercise by quantifying it as fun!
