Here’s more proof that everybody really loves zombies. (Sorry, Ray!) It seems like more and more people are turning to the dependable undead to allow us to be the heroes that we really are. (Never mind the fact that if it was an actual zombie invasion, I’d probably be under the desk, wetting my pants)
The newest game, and probably the most innovative one yet, is MobZombies, a mobile game prototype that has the player run away from an ever increasing number of zombies, planting bombs to clear the path. However, as Destructoid points out, you don’t just sit your fat ass on the La-Z-Boy and start pushing buttons on the controller. Instead, this game promises to get you back to your birth weight as you dodge the zombies in real life. Wait, you didn’t hear that right? No, of course you did. The game tracks your real world movements via a (supposed) Bluetooth sensor that attaches to your wrist.
The prototype as seen in this video, however, is a Sony UX ultraportable that’s rigged with a custom motion sensor. Am I the only one or was I just expecting someone to walk straight into a wall while running around with that thing? But I digress. This technology, if done right, could very well turn out to the be the Wiimote of the mobile world, allowing people like me to run around everywhere on the streets, waving my mobile phone around in the air and circle strafing around the fire hydrant. Now if Sony would actually just put the PSP EyeToy to good use. Remember how there were rumors about how LocoRoco could be used along with the PSP EyeToy to control the devilishly cute jellyblobs all over your favorite urban landscape? So the next time you see me on the street, waving my mobile around like a Wiimote and screaming and trying to dodge you, you know what I am doing. Just don’t call the cops or try to run me over with your SUV, please.
In other zombie news, however, it looks like the Left4Dead411 fansite team got lucky enough to head over to the VALVe offices to take a look at the upcoming co-op survival horror shooter, Left4Dead. And boy, have they got a story to tell! Read their first hands-on impressions on the game here, and then go drool a river about how good this game would be on the PC and the Xbox 360 (Co-Op on Live! WOOHOO! Now where’s the Dead Rising Co-Op Patch?) while I fire me up some Killing Floor. Here, kitty, kitty, kitty….
